The five VBS days of “Shipwrecked” are now over. Everyone has been rescued and returned home! Vacation Bible School was a wonderful week for both children and adults, and we will all carry great memories from this time together.
Each day began with singing, skits, and a new Bible Point followed by games, movies, science experiments, and Bible dramas. We met a new animal buddy each day, including Moe the sloth, Guac the Iguana, and Rae the Manta Ray to name a few.
With donations from all of our castaways, our Junior Leaders tied together 69 complete Personal Care Kits, with lots of soap and toothbrushes left over. All these supplies will be delivered to Lutheran World Relief, and will be sent around the world. Thank you for your great work bringing hope to families in crisis.
Thank you to the Gloria Dei leaders who created the beautiful stage and to the volunteers who filled our hallways with vines, palm trees and washed up crates. It seemed like we walked onto a tropical island from the moment we entered the building. A huge thank you to the kitchen crew for keeping the children fed with creative and delicious snacks, as well keeping the volunteers happy with coffee and juice and tasty donated treats. These are the behind-the-scenes people that make Vacation Bible School complete and so fun!
Finally special thank you to the more than 120 children and adults join us for a week of singing and playing, learning and creating. It was a week we will always remember and for which we thank God! You are the reason our volunteers give themselves gladly to a very busy week. They want you to know and love Jesus just as much as they do! And this week will always remind us, that no matter what –
